Confounded Films LLC seeks to produce thoughtful, innovative and provocative films. Short or feature, narrative or documentary, our goal is to inspire, to challenge, to entertain.

Too often, fairly or unfairly, audiences equate "independent film" with narratives lacking the requisite punch to appeal to mainstream audiences. Confounded Films LLC strives to shatter that stereotype by providing an outlet for unique stories that are both intelligent and entertaining.

The name “confounded” comes from the scientific concept of "confounding", which describes the effect an unknown variable may have on the relationship between experimental cause and effect. Applied to film, confounding might represent that special something that nobody can quite define, but that moves a film from good to great, enjoyable to classic.

Confounded Films LLC is the brainchild of writer-director-producer Stephen Lyman.

About Stephen Lyman

Stephen approaches film-making as a storyteller. He’s been hired to write three independent narrative feature films, won or placed in several screenwriting competitions, has successfully obtained grants for film projects, and has successfully fond distribution for short films. His unique storytelling style attempts to blend the real with the surreal, making films that meet audience expectations while surprising them with intuitively satisfying twists and turns.

In Stephen's other life, he is a college professor who has been published in dozens of medical and scientific journals throughout the world. Stephen maintains a faculty position at an Ivy League medical college.
